Baby Swimwear Checklist: Everything You Need for the Pool
A proper baby swimwear checklist takes a lot of the guesswork out of that first splash, whether you're heading to your very first parent and baby class or packing for a week by the pool on holiday. There's a small handful of baby swim essentials worth having sorted before you go, and none of it needs to be complicated.

A Reusable Swim Nappy
This is the one item on any baby swimwear checklist that's genuinely non negotiable. NCT guidance confirms that babies and toddlers need to wear a swim nappy in the pool unless they're fully potty trained, and that normal nappies simply aren't built for the job. A normal nappy soaks up water like a sponge and swells to several times its size, which is exactly the moment you don't want it to happen, whether that's during a splash about session at the pool or baby's first visit to the beach.
